The Time I had My 11th Heart Attack

Ok...I'm not sure if it was the 11th one but Aubree is turning 11 on Monday, which is the 11th so it sounds good to me.

Caleb was about 6 weeks old. I was trying so hard to establish some sort of routine with the kids. I didn't realize how hard it would be to take care of a 9 year old with an attitude, a 3 year old, and a newborn that liked to breastfeed every 2 hours for about 40 minutes at a time!

By 9 PM I would have Aubree and Carter in bed. This was going to be my time to either nurse the baby for the millionth time that day or I would go take a hot bath with him beside me in his bouncy seat.

The first night Carter sat outside the bathroom door that was locked (I lock doors if I am running bath water because I can't hear my killer enter the room...ha) the entire time. He repeated over and over "I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow dis door down, mommy." The baby apparently had enough and puked all over himself, pooped his pants, and started screaming! Bath night #1=total fail!

A few nights later I decided I'd try again. Carter was staying in bed and sleeping pretty good so I figured I'd take my chances.

Again...into the bathroom, lock the door, baby beside me...let's try this again! It was wonderful! I forgot how much I missed taking a hot bath after having to wait for 6 weeks. The sound of the jets in the tub put the baby to sleep. Score! Bath night #2=success!

I got out of the tub and was going about my nightly routine...brushing my teeth, etc. I went into my bedroom with just my towel on to get dressed. I laid out my clothes on the bed in front of me and just as I dropped the towel 2 hands grabbed my ankles from under the bed.

I screamed! And just before I started kicking the hell out of this person I recognized those hands...those small hands of a 3 year old! The hands of Carter! Lucky boy!

He scooted backwards from under the bed on the opposite side and ran out of my room like he thought he was about to lose his life. It's funny now! It was funny the next day, but at the time I was sure I was either about to be killed or have a heart attack!

I'd love to tell you that he no longer does this sort of thing but he does! There's no telling how many times he's scared the crap out of me. He usually jumps a little when I scream and then starts laughing!

This is Carter around the time he gave his mommy a heart attack! Lol! Hard to believe that little face could do such a thing! Haha!

Don't forget to link up with Lora tomorrow about your favorite posts of the week!

How many heart attacks have you had? Kids ever scare the crap out of you?

  1. I laughed so hard at this story! It's something I totally would've done to my mom growing up... Must be a middle child thing? :)

  2. OMGawwhhh! You have me laughing so hard {and apparently so loud} that the lady in the next cubicle just asked me what I was doing. What's so funny? Is there anything better than being a mom? Never a dull moment!!

  3. This is freaking hilarious...and I love that your "killer" was going to end your life just as you had dropped your towel. :)

  6. Lol I remember that story! I do that still to do this day. I scare him and Shane. Ha, I even jump out and scream boo to Spike and Lola all the time. Spike ran into the wall yesterday when I did it. Lol. And I'm the same way about locking doors. I at least want to hear them breaking down the door to snatch me.
