A Couple Things

A quick post here before all you people with normal Mon-Fri jobs begin to enjoy your weekend! Hahaha! I kid...kinda. I wanted to share the Chicken and Dumplings recipe in case you want to indulge over the weekend BUT first I must say something!

If you have not gotten your flu shot please seriously consider getting one!! There were years that I was "that nurse" that signed the form to decline it because I don't like getting shots and what if I end up getting it anyways? I also don't like putting medication, etc in my body. Well...I got the flu while I was pregnant with Caleb and it was bad! Brian, Carter, and I all had it. I said NEVER again will I not take the shot. Last year, it did not match the flu that was going around but this year it is a match for a couple of the strains going around. In case you have been under a rock, the flu is spreading like wild fire. Our children's hospital here in Memphis is FULL and it's only January. Not good! After the shot my arm hurt and I felt like my body was fighting something off...may have had a low grade fever but nothing like the flu. So, please protect yourself and your loved ones. Pretty please? Now onto the good stuff!

I can't remember where I got this recipe. Possibly from the Crock Pot Girls a few years ago. It is delicious!

Crock Pot Chicken and Dumplings
4 boneless/skinless chicken breasts
2 cans of cream of chicken soup (10 3/4 oz cans)
1 can cream of celery soup
3 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 chicken flavored boullion cube
2 tablespoons of butter
1 onion, finely chopped
1 cup of diced carrots
1 cup of diced celery
desired amount of salt and pepper (I like pepper)
10 oz package of refrigerated biscuit (You will need to tear them into pieces but not until after everything else has cooked for 7 hours)

1. Mix all of the ingredients in your crock pot EXCEPT FOR the biscuits
2. Cover and cook on low for 7 hours
3. Remove chicken and shred into small pieces. It will pretty much fall apart because it will be so tender. Return shredded chicken to soup mixture in the crock pot.
4. Add the torn pieces of biscuit dough stirring well.
5. Cover and allow mixture to cook for about another hour
6. Enjoy!

I hope that ya'll love it as much as we do! It's a beautiful day here and we are all finally well and hoping to stay that way! We are headed out for a stroll around our neighborhood. Happy weekend and that's not easy for me to say! Haha!

Oh, and if you're not already following me on Instagram I'm linzlee1982. :)

A Mommy Loves New Clothes and Meeting Goals!

That's right! What mommy doesn't love new clothes? I know that I do. I thought I had an opportunity to try them on before the boys got up this morning. Wrong! Carter got up first so I went ahead and got him off to preschool. I had to persuade Caleb that the remote control in our bedroom was much more interesting than mommy trying on clothes and he bought it for a few minutes. Ha! If you follow me on Instagram then you've already seen these pics. Now that I have my own little dressing room I figured why not take pics?! So, I did.

Kenzie Dress from Kiki La'Rue

Calley Henley top from Kiki La'Rue

I know I said to stay tuned on the mint jeans. I didn't have time to put them together with the things that I wanted to. Laura did a post on how she is going to be wearing hers today. Check it out. I am thinking maybe a denim top or ivory sweater with brown boots or black sweater with black boots. There are really a lot of combos for them. I even thought about trying to find a navy blue shirt or sweater. Laura did a red top with hers and I really liked that too.

So, yesterday I mentioned my goals for 2013 and how I have met some of them already. My first goal was to work on my relationship with God and becoming a better Christian. I have already joined a women's bible study in my hometown, Covington. It is amazing! I am really excited about what is to come. It was good to do some singing, praying, and see some familiar faces. Long overdue! God is good! I am really excited that one of my BFF's will be able to come next week. She wasn't able to make it to our first meeting. I can't wait to see her!

Also, for 2013 I plan on traveling more. My cousin lives in Nashville and we are already talking about me and the kids coming for a visit. He means the world to me and I don't get to see him enough. We were neighbors growing up and for 30 years I have spent every Christmas Eve with him. It just wouldn't be right for us to go another year without seeing each other.

That's him, Nate! He was posting ugly pics of me on Instagram!

Next possible trip is one for our 5 year anniversary. It may not necessarily be on or even near our anniversary. It will all depend on childcare and how many empty seats are on the plane we are leaving on. It's been tight lately. May have to bite the bullet and buy a ticket. Ugh...just the thought! A few years ago, Brian and I went to Las Vegas. We had so much fun. One of his best friends was living there at the time so that made it even better but he and his wife have moved back here now. We are talking about possibly going back out there. There is just so much to see and do there! We didn't get to see a lot of things that we wanted to. We stayed at New York New York. Don't get me wrong, it's very nice but we want to be closer to the action next time. We did a ton of walking last time. Maybe the Bellagio next time or The Mirage? We also didn't get to see any shows while we were there...bad tourists! Not even sure we'll head back out west but it's a good possibility. Here's some pics from our last trip there.
The fountains at the Bellagio. I could watch them all day!
 Oh, yes! Louis Louis!
Our room had a view of the valley
New York  New York, where we stayed
 Lady Liberty, Vegas Style
At The Hard Rock Cafe. I love The Beatles!

Oh, I want to go back now I have been through the pics! We are also planning on taking the kids to Disney World in the fall, October'ish. I have heard it's wonderful around Halloween. The last time I went to Disney, Aubree was celebrating her 5th birthday. It's hard to believe that's been almost 6 years ago. Carter is so excited. After posting all of this I should call work and sign up for some overtime. Ha!
Aubree with Snow White for breakfast
 Minnie Ears are a must!
 She loved Sleeping Beauty!
Time out for you, Aubree! Haha!
We were exhausted in this pic.
Birthday dinner with Cinderella at The Castle in The Magic Kingdom
The princess makes a wish!

In other news, I cooked homemade Chicken and Dumplings tonight via the crock pot...woman's best friend! I may need to share that recipe soon. It's delicious!

Suggestions for where to stay, eat, and shows to see in Las Vegas? Shop Kiki La'Rue? You should!

Random Wednesday!

Love this link-up because we all know how random I am! Ha! My last post was about how I am sooooo ready for Spring. It's worse now! It has been a struggle since Christmas Day to get everyone in this house well! Not that we are battling any terrible illness, but goodness...and I hear that the flu this year is spreading like wildfire! Ugh! Stay home sick people! On Monday, I did what any nurse would do after losing a fight with a virus turned into a sinus infection that would gag the roto-rooter man. I dug through my medicine cabinet and found a WHOLE bottle of Amoxicillin that my doctor presecribed me almost a year ago. I thought I had strep throat but didn't so she gave me Amoxicillin because she suspected a sinus infection. I was like whatever...I ain't dying and I was breastfeeding (THAT SO DESERVES A POST...the child that would not try formula) so I'll save these meds in case I really need them one day. So, I have put myself on antibiotics and am feeling much better. Now, as a nurse I must tell you that you should never do that! Always listen to your doctor and take your meds as directed! Nurses are the worst patients ever!

Yesterday I made something I found on Pinterest months ago. I had all the stuff here so why not? I put orange peel, sliced apples, and cinnamon in a pan and covered with water. I brought it to a boil and let it simmer all afternoon adding water as needed. It smelled amazing! There is no specific amount on any of the ingriedients but I wouldn't get crazy with the cinnamon...that may make it too strong.

Smelled so good!

Next, I got so tired of wearing t-shirts and blue jeans to the grocery store all the time. Yeah, I know it's kinda sad that it's one of the only places I go but it's ok with me. I have all these clothes just hanging in my closet that only get used on date nights that rarely happen. This has been my favorite casual outfit this season. Just a pair of black jeggings from LOLA at Mall of America (not sure they have any other stores), a Chambray shirt that I got for $5 from Old Navy last year, and my favorite riding boots by Steve Madden. Very casual but much cuter than t-shirts all the time and it makes me feel good too!

Simple but cute!

I was excited to buy these mint jeans from Tilly's online. My SIL, Laura, is going to be doing a post on how to wear these soon. I have a few things in mind but she and my other SIL, Carrie, are the stylish ones so I kinda count on them at times to know how far behind my style is! Lol!

Mint Jeans! Stay tuned to see how I wear them!

I also got my order from Kiki La'Rue today! UPS has been working hard for me! Ha! I bought 2 shirts, a dress, and a necklace with matching earrings. I did not get a chance to wash my hair today (big shock since I stay home with little kids) so I'll try all of them on tommorow with pics!

Love Kiki La'Rue!

So, I set some goals for 2013 and one is to get my house more organized and possibly start finishing our upstairs but Brian insists on finisihing the old chevy in the garage.  When we bought this house, a major selling point for me was the closet. All I can say about the closet is the two men that designed this house somehow got into the head of every woman and made a closet to put a smile on her face. Seriously. So, as if this dream closet isn't big enough, they put another one in the master bath that is a walk-in. This closet is as interior as it can get. No walls touch the outside of the house, no windows so it makes a great tornado shelter but, I am a woman who has been quite stir crazy in this house lately. What does a woman do with a closet that is not being used? She turns it into a dressing room...duh!

My dressing room! Ha! Now I will post lots of OOTD (outfit of the day) pics! Don't hate on the Hannah Montana trashcan! And btw...I painted that pic in the background. Any Memphis friends interested in going to a paint party? They are so much fun!

When Tina Chris designed my blog, I had him add a tab for a "Home Tour". Now don't get all excited and go clicking on it because there is nothing there! Laura mentioned a home tour for her blog last week and I got to thinking that it will probably be at least 5 years before I am able to do a  home tour. Caleb will be in kindergarten then so I will be able to get my house set out the way I want to and have time to do it. Until then, I will make posts to show parts of the house here and there if it goes along with what I am talking about. Like this post, I mention the closet of my dreams so I will share it with you. Please excuse the clutter...it takes us a good year or so to get moved in completely!

My closet has 2 entry's. This is the first. It is connected to the laundry room. Genius!

Custom shelving that you would just have to see to believe. Btw...my hubby has more clothing than me. Something is wrong with this!

This is a bookcase that we use for DVDs, CDs, purses, bills, etc. This is shot facing the laundry room.
There is a turn towards the right in the closet and this is my side. Notice he has shoes on my side! Seriously...Haha!

This is the exit or entry #2. It leads to my master bath which is connected to my bedroom. Tell me these guys weren't thinking like a woman?!?! Smarties!

Tonight I won a prize for the like the first time ever! I won a free airbrush tan from my friend, Jamie at Southernglow! I am so excited! I have known Jamie for many years! We went to a football game at Ole Miss together years ago. We had so much fun checking out the stores on the square in Oxford after the game. She has a beautiful family. I am so excited! Momma is pale but will be glowing soon!
Yay!!

That's all for tonight! It is pouring down rain and I am ready for my head to hit the pillow. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! I leave you with this precious face!

What's not to love??

Already Longing for Spring

Yeah...that's right, I said it. I am ready for Spring! Mainly because my kids are about to lose it if it doesn't warm up soon and we can spend our days outside. We spend the majority of the day outside when it's nice. Since we have been a little sickly this week, we haven't really gone outside to play much and yesterday they were both, yes even the baby, climbing the walls and getting into EVERYTHING! I was worn out by the time they went to bed at 9:00 but didn't fall asleep until around 11:00 because they were still very full of energy. Yesterday, I got smacked not once but twice in the face by Lightening McQueen, while lying on the floor playing with Carter the baby dropped a box of baby wipes on my head, and every pot and pan or anything within their reach was in the kitchen or living room floor. It's totally normal to walk thru your house and note a tea pitcher on the living room floor, right? I even have a cut under my eye that I can't explain. Needless to say, I slept pretty good last night. Well, 6 hours and that's good for me!  I got up early today (7:30) so I could shower and be good and awake for these boys today. Before I got out of the shower Carter was sitting "criss-cross-applesauce" on the mat in front of the shower watching me asking over and over for Fruity Pebbles. Fun times! Haha!

Outside play time is not the only reason that I am ready for Spring. I am just not a fan of the cold weather at all. Not that it gets unbearable here but it's just not my favorite. Why do you think we live here? I really hope that nobody thinks my husband took a transfer from Minneapolis to Memphis because Memphis is a safer and better place to live. Nope! The cold weather up there was a HUGE factor! It could have something to do with the night that we went to Walmart and it was -35 (yes there is a negative sign in front of the 3 and 5) with blizzard conditions. We had no groceries, ya'll! Well...my first mistake was that I wanted to look all cute like some kind of snow bunny so I was wearing some leggings and my UGGS with a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. BAD choice! So you can assume that the 60 mph wind felt like glass hitting my chicken legs in those thin pants. That's not all! I sneezed before we got out of the truck and my eyes watered a little. I closed my eyes while walking in because the wind and cold hurt so bad and what do you think happened? My eyes froze shut! I was freaking out in the entry of Walmart. With my strong southern accent I kept telling Brian, "I can't open my eyes!" Now they did thaw very, very quickly but that just isn't right! Your eyes should not freeze while walking into Walmart! That was the first time that I realized I was not loving a upper mid-western winter!  The seond time I realized it was a night that Brian was sick with a stomach bug. I volunteered to go get him some popsicles. I had NO idea it was supposed to snow. There were no watches, warnings or "breaking news" like we have here. I opened the garage and there was so much snow piled up in front of the garage. It was up to my knees. I suppose this is when these people break out the shovel or a snow plow but this girl closed the garage and went back in the house to make some J-E-L-L-O! If not for the winter, it is a perfect place. I can say that I have experienced it and survived it!

I head back to work tomorrow! I hope that all of you enjoy your weekend! Stay warm.

This is me waiting in line in APRIL to de-ice so we could take off. CRAZY!

It's hard to believe that little sweet little boy smacked me with a car in the face twice yesterday! LOL!

The Baby Truck and Goals for 2013!

Raise your hand if at anytime in your life you or your parents drove a hoopty car (that's what we said back in the day). LOL! When I was younger my mom drove a navy blue and cream striped van that could carry an entire softball team and their family.  At first my sister and I were really pumped about it because it had a TV (that only picked up PBS). I remember very clearly when my parents got rid of that thing because it was such a relief! I wouldn't let them take me to school or pick me up! I was all about riding the school bus. The old van was the last hoopty car that I had anything to do with until 2 years ago.

A guy that Brian works with sold him a little Toyota truck for $200! Now, yeah it was a total deal and I was all for it because Brian was driving his big diesel "Duramax" back and forth to Memphis 5 days a week. Carter named it the "baby truck". This was gonna be a great way to save money. After we bought it he was talking about how he knew I couldn't drive a stick and I just HAD to prove him wrong...you know where this is going! He just about pitched a fit that I hadn't been driving it to work because we could save even more money and someone had just put a nice little dent in my door while it was parked in the garage at work. So, I agreed and started driving it to work. It wasn't too bad until I got pregnant with Caleb and it became an issue to try to drive a stick and puke at the same time while driving home from work in the mornings. Fun times! I toughed it out though. I knew if I drove my Tahoe and it got a scratch on it that I'd never hear the end of it. I drove it until I was about 26 weeks pregnant. I had to stop because the freaking thing sits on the ground and rides so rough that by the time I got to work I would be having contractions.

The "baby" truck

Now I am working at a new place and they don't know the whole story behind the truck. A lady asked me the other day what I do when I have to take all 3 of my kids somewhere with me or how do we go out as a family. I've never even thought much about it but now it's kinda embarassing because this little thing has started smoking and makes an awful squeaky noise. I think it's falling apart!  I have started parking all the way at the end of the garage on the opposite side from everyone else! LOL! It's so embarassing! Brian loves the little thing. He washed and waxed it the other day! LOL! I told him the other night when it was 20 degrees that I was gonna just drive my Tahoe the next morning. I can crank and defrost it with a remote from inside my warm house but nooooo he insisted on getting up at 5:15 and going out to crank the truck, which was very nice of him. I was running a little late and went to tell him good-bye and couldn't find him. I assumed something was broke on the truck and he was outside fixing it. No! He was in our driveway asleep in the truck because he was afraid to leave it running because someone may steal it. LOL! I'm not sure a car has ever even been stolen in our town. Why am I sharing this? I honestly have no idea! Prob because I drove my Tahoe today for the first time in about a week and felt like I was driving a Cadillac and laughed as I passed the "baby truck".  It has to stay parked on the street because it leaks so bad. Ahhhhh!

Ok...moving along! I stopped making New Year's resolutions long ago because I usually forget them or just don't follow through but I do have some very realistic goals for this year. I am excited about 2013!  Here's my to-do list:

1. Work MUCH harder on my relationship with God. I am joining a small bible study group and I am very excited. I miss church on Sundays because I work. This will be good for me.

2. Worry less about how clean my house is! I wait until my kids are in bed then I clean like a mad woman. That should be time I take for myself and I am going to start doing that!

3.  Go see my Meemaw more often. You really don't know how much your grandparents mean to you until you only have one left! She doesn't live that far so there's no excuse for me not to go visit her at least once a week.

4.  Take a short trip with Brian for our anniversary this year. It will be 5 years!

5. We have talked and talked and talked about taking the kids to Disney for years and we really are going to do it this year. Planning on October! Heard it's awesome around Halloween!

6. Start finishing the upstairs in our house. There is only one bedroom up there that is finished now. We did it back during the summer and it's Aubree's room. We want to add a full bathroom, bonus room, and another bedroom. Possbily a half bath but we will see. It's very pricey!

7. Start running again! I want to do some 5k's, etc but they're always on the weekend...ya know, when I work.

8. I have been nominated for 4 Liebster Awards and I am sure the sweet friends that nominated me think I am a real lazy/bad blogger! I am sorry, ladies! When I do these posts I have one kid hanging from my leg while my laptop is on the counter so he can't reach it while the other kid talks non-stop. I am sorry!

So, those are my goals! I'm counting on ya'll to hold me accountable! Anybody every finished an uncompleted part of your house? Disney suggestions?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, friends! I hope that 2013 is the best year ever! I want to say welcome again to my new friends. I am glad you are all here, new and old friends! I enjoyed seeing lots of pics on Instagram last night while lying in bed sick on New Year's.  It seems to be a trend for me. I was sick last year too. My sweet boys shared some not-so lovely germs with me. It kind of hit me out of the blue on Thursday. Add that with working 12 hour shifts on Sat, Sun, and Mon equals a tired momma! I think I passed out somewhere around 11:50. What a party animal! Ha!

Sweet Cheeks was passed out after his doctor appointment. Nothing like a double ear infection. Poor baby!

Cowboy Carter was waiting on his Pop Pop to come pick him up.

Amanda Sarchet was the winner of the give away. She's a sweetie! Check out her blog, Simply Sarchet.  We both have little boys named Caleb and they're the same age. I enjoyed every comment from all of you and look forward to reading your blogs and getting to know you better.

Again, best wishes for a great year!
